Jason Tye-Din

Professor Jason Tye-Din is Director of the Snow Centre for Immune Health, Head of the Coeliac Research Laboratory at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI), and a consultant gastroenterologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He leads a translational research program focused on understanding the immune basis of coeliac disease and translating these insights into better diagnostics and treatments. His work has contributed to defining key gluten-specific T cell responses and to the development of interleukin-2 as a biomarker of pathogenic T cell activation after gluten exposure. These advances have supported new diagnostic approaches, immunomonitoring tools and therapies now being evaluated in clinical trials. Jason collaborates widely with academic and industry partners, leads clinical studies in coeliac disease, and manages a specialist Coeliac Clinic at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is also Co-Chair of the Gluten Safety and Standards Committee of the International Society for the Study of Celiac Disease. Through the Snow Centre, he is helping extend similar translational approaches across immune-mediated diseases.
